Rare Victorian Medical Photos Published in Scope Medical Journal (Ireland)

Dr.Burn’s collection of Irish medical photographs from the 1870’s has been heralded with an editorial and article in Scope Medicine in Focus. This is the first time this collection of photographs has been presented.  Editor Kennas Fitzsimons notes the photographs were originally published with case histories in the Dublin Journal of Medical Science. Senior reporter Eimear Vize presents the photographs with their original case histories. The patients were all operated by noted surgeon Edward Stamer O’Grady. A PDF of the article can be downloaded by clicking the link at the bottom of this post.

  3. Is this not the same Edward Stamer O'Grady, the litigious 'bully' of Mercer's Hospital, and the execrated landlord at Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick?

He is spoken of daily at Abbeyfeale for his inhumane treatment of his tenants during the Land War in Ireland.

A real Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, I suspect.
